Superfoods are becoming an everyday essential in our lives and here at Evergreen we would like to tell you why! A superfood is a nutrient rich food which is seen to be beneficial to health and well-being. They can play a great role in having a healthy diet and a healthy eating plan. There are plenty of different superfoods out there and they are all great in their own way but here are our top 5 superfoods.

Goji Berries

These berries are delicious and full of vitamins, proteins, anti-oxidants and amino acids. Goji berries are extremely nutrient dense and this is why they are one of our favourite superfoods. They can be added to porridge, cereals, salads or smoothies to create some added benefits. Top tip: Soak them in water and have a juicy snack.

Bee Pollen

This superfood is high in fibre, iron and zinc.  It is also full of beneficial vitamins and proteins. It is super delicious and can be added to salads, cereals, juices and many more. Pollen has been known to improve energy and endurance. Victoria Beckham is a big fan of bee pollen and it is no wonder why!

Maca Powder

A natural and rich source of protein, calcium, iron and phosphorous. Maca has numerous health benefits associated with its use. It can help to improve the immune system and balance hormones. It is full of nutrients which can help maintain a healthy body and mind. Top tip: Add to your smoothie for optimal health.


This is another popular ingredient which is bursting with nutrients. It is a highly nutritious food which is a rich source of proteins and minerals. Some of these minerals include calcium, iron and phosphorous. As well as being full of nutrients it is also full of Omega 6 and Omega 9 as well as antioxidants. Cacao is popular for using when making healthy treats and smoothies as it has a similar taste to chocolate but slightly bitter.


This ancient food has been used in the past as an endurance food and this is due to all of its nutritional benefits. It has five times more calcium than milk, is packed full of fibre and has high levels of the essential fatty acid, Omega 3. Chia is also a natural mood booster. Enjoy chia seeds or milled chia as part of your morning breakfast, in smoothies or as a snack.
