Both bacteria and a virus have the ability to cause infection, but that is where similarity generally ends.
Bacteria, although small and single celled, do not need a host to reproduce. As well as this, despite the fact that we have barely scratched the surface of identifying the different types of bacteria that exists, we know that only about 1% of the known bacteria can make humans unwell. Antibiotics will not treat a viral infection, and antivirals will not affect bacterial infections.
Viruses operate in a different way.
Most viruses cause disease, and they require a host to reproduce. For example a virus will attach themselves to human cells and use these to multiply. Creating antiviral medicines is difficult. This is because they must attack the virus and not the human cells that the virus has manipulated. Fortunately, here at Evergreen we have several options of traditional remedies reputed to have antiviral benefits, as well as being a great support for your immune wellbeing!
