Vitamin E

What is Vitamin E?

Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin responsible for a number of essential functions in the body. Vitamin E, which is also referred to as tocopherol, is a very powerful antioxidant which helps the body fight free radicles. Free radicals cause harmful chemical reactions that can damage cells, making it harder for the body to fight off infections. They can even cause damage to organs and tissues. Vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and green leafy vegetables are all brilliant sources of vitamin E. Many foods, such as cereals, juices and spreads are also fortified with vitamin E. If you feel you are not eating enough of these foods, you may be deficient in vitamin E and supplementation may be necessary.
