Vitamin K

What is Vitamin K?

Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that has many essential functions in the body. It occurs naturally in two forms: vitamin K1 which is referred to as phylloquinone and vitamin K2 which is referred to as ‘menaquinones’. Vitamin K1 is generally found in plants while vitamin K2 is commonly found in dairy products. It can also be made by the bacteria in your intestines. Vitamin K is present in dark green vegetables, green tea and beef liver. However, freezing these products can destroy the vitamin K present. This vitamin plays an essential role in keeping the body healthy. It is perhaps most commonly known for helping the blood to clot. It has also been linked to maintaining bone health and helping to keep blood vessels functioning properly.

Buying Vitamin K Supplements

Vitamin K is available in many of Evergreens multivitamin products as well as on its own in different strengths. It is also available in many forms including tablets, capsules and liquid so you are sure to find exactly what you are looking for.
