Vitamin A (Retinol)

What is Vitamin A?

Vitamin A, which is also known as retinol, is a fat-soluble vitamin that has many essential functions in the body. It is essential for healthy vision, skin, bones and other tissues in the body. It is also a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin A can be found in beef, eggs, carrots, sweet potatoes and broccoli. When the body is deficient in vitamin A it experiences symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, dry/irritated skin and muscle and joint pain. If enough retinol is not received through diet alone, supplementation may be necessary.
