Vitamin A (Retinol)

What is Vitamin A?

Vitamin A, which is also known as retinol, is a fat-soluble vitamin that has many essential functions in the body. It is essential for healthy vision, skin, bones and other tissues in the body. It is also a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin A can be found in beef, eggs, carrots, sweet potatoes and broccoli. When the body is deficient in vitamin A it experiences symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, dry/irritated skin and muscle and joint pain. If enough retinol is not received through diet alone, supplementation may be necessary.

Buying Vitamin A Supplements

At Evergreen.ie, we stock a wide range of vitamin A supplements, available in both tablet and capsule form. Many of our multivitamins are also an excellent source of vitamin A. Because vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, it is stored in the body, meaning you can consume too much vitamin A. Please consult with your healthcare practitioner before use. Do not take if you are pregnant or if you are likely to become pregnant except on the advice of a doctor.
